DeCluuz - Luc Druez, Belgian by birth but deeply European at heart, is the person behind Decluuz, his artistic pseudonym and the textile brand LcD created in 1992. After studying music at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Luc Druez embarked on a different artistic path, dedicating himself to the creation of works in the textile field, as a new form of expression. His colorful creations, skillfully crafted by hand weaving copper wires and metal fibers in Italy, Belgium, and France, have become his emblematic works. After his itinerant project linked to female figures and number seven, many large paintings portray men from very different eras and cultures united by having suffered a passionate betrayal. The characters chosen for this new theme, Le Temps des Cocus, are Adam, for the history of religions, Menelaus, in the mythological imagination, Molière for literature, Henry VIII for the historical tale and the Shakespearean tragedy, Frédéric Chopin for music, Ken from Barbie to represent the world of childhood and Blake Carrington for the television pop culture typical of 1980s consumerism. Depicted as busts outlined by the metal fiber, distorted by its primary function, it refers thanks to the selected materials to the art of weaving so dear to period tapestries.
